On Thursday, October 10th, 2019 the state of Washington Board of Health enacted a 120 day temporary flavor ban on flavored vape products with Nicotine in addition to marijuana and CBD. Retailers had only 1 day to prepare and comply with the emergency enactment. The ban comes amid a national investigation to understand the outbreak of vaping related lung illness.
Legislators claim that a flavor ban will protect the youth population who are illegally using nicotine flavored vape products. However, both the FDA & CDC have confirmed that 78% of the patients who have been admitted for vaping illness used THC products from illicit black market dealers.
Regardless of the legislators efforts to protect the illegal youth population who use nicotine vape products – the legitimate business owners who run category exclusive store-bought nicotine vape shops are stuck with potential bankruptcy.
